Malaysia, 2012
The series for the “XXI. My Pacific Ocean” project . The project was organized by the Center of the exhibitions of The Russian News & Information Agency RIA Novosti and was dedicated to the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) Russia 2012 summit – the annual gathering of APEC leaders, which took place in Vladivostok in September, 2012. 21 Russian photographers were invited to participate in the project. Each of them drew a lot for a country, where the series or history with personal vision of relations between the people and Pacific Ocean should be photographed within 1 week. I drew Malaysia. It consists of 2 parts separated by the South China Sea into two similarly sized regions, Peninsular Malaysia (on Malakka peninsula) and Malaysian Borneo. So I chose 2 regions to shoot: Kota Kinabalu town (Sabah state on Borneo) and western shore of Malakka peninsular.
The project results were exposed during the summit in Vladivostok and after that in the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.
